About

Built From the Land It Stands On

A Legacy Rebuilt

The original Gorrie Mill stood as a symbol of craftsmanship and industry in rural Ontario. Every beam, detail, and architectural element has been thoughtfully reconstructed to honor its past while giving it new life in Florida.

Now resting atop the historic Alice Mine Head, the mill’s relocation represents more than preservation — it is a continuation of legacy. The site blends two historic stories into one unforgettable setting, offering couples a venue rooted in meaning, resilience, and timeless design.

This is not a replica.

This is history, restored with intention.

Background and History

Every stone you see at The Gorrie Mill at Alice Mine was hand-chiseled Florida fieldstone sourced directly from the property. No imported materials. No shortcuts. Each piece was shaped by hand and set with intention, grounding the mill not just visually — but physically — to the land itself.

This stonework forms the fireplace, columns, and architectural details throughout the venue, creating a structure that feels inseparable from its surroundings.

Encircled by towering Florida granddaddy oak trees, The Gorrie Mill feels naturally protected; shaded by sprawling branches that have stood for generations. Their presence frames the mill in quiet strength, creating a setting that feels grounded, intentional, and deeply timeless.

As daylight fades, warm light spills through the mill’s tall windows, illuminating timber and stone beneath the oaks’ sweeping silhouettes. The result is a landscape that feels cinematic yet profoundly still.
